Remote peering is a peering scenario within an Internet Exchange without a physical presence in the digital ecosystem. Manama-IX customers are enabled to reach their desired Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) via a robust infrastructure and Internet Exchange platform without the additional investment in connectivity.

Remote peering works when a customer does not need to be physically present at the peering point to establish connectivity to an Internet Exchange Point (IXP). As a Remote Peering Provider, MN-IX will provide customers the access to an exchange point over its robust infrastructure. This can be achieved through configuration, which will allow the customer to access the Internet Exchange Point through the MN-IX network.

Members who have an active port on MN-IX to peer with other local members, can define a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) for a portion of the port capacity to be used for peering with Remote Internet Exchange members.
